Finding Your Identity in Nature: An Eco-Art Therapy Workshop

This workshop will explore identity using eco-art therapy due to its inherent nature of exploring the unknown. This dynamic interplay between art and nature within a unique ecosystem of art therapy creates a sense of heightened potential, sensitizing us to the possibilities of nature itself. Eco-art therapy seeks to connect individuals with the natural world and promote healing and personal growth through creative expression with nature. In this workshop, we will examine how eco-art therapy can help participants look at their identity. We will look at the definition of eco-art therapy, its history and its benefits for people who participate. Inclusion within eco-art therapy is a large theme throughout the workshop that recognizes individuals where they are and is only limited by a facilitator’s imagination. A specific framework has been created to help facilitate the journey of identity and metaphorically walks a facilitator through the steps of climbing the mountain of the workshop. There are activities to work from and explore, and questions to spark rich dialogue with participants. This workshop also encourages the facilitators to bring eco-art therapy into their daily practice and gives many ideas about how to do this.
